ODACITÉ KIND OF GIRL: RACHEL RHEE, CANCER SURVIVOR, HEALTH COACH AND LIFE ENTHUSIAST

This month, our Odacité Kind of Girl is Rachel Rhee, creator of the popular and so inspiring wellness and health blog The Dimple Life. Based in LA, the certified health coach has been a source of inspiration to many of us, especially those who have gone through tough times. Rachel had the strength to give her life a new turn in quitting her office job to spread positivity and help others reach confidence and happiness.

Cancer survivor, fighter and life enthusiast, we fell in love with Rachel’s beautiful soul. Her successful journey to recovery and the way she makes it possible for everyone is a true inspiration. We recently met her and wanted to share with you the enriching encounter we had!

Q: Why is wellness important to you?

Wellness is important to me because it’s truly a lifestyle affecting your mind, body, and soul. Wellness is not just if you fit in exercise or if you eat a salad, it’s all encompassing. It has to do with the relationship you have with yourself and with others, your sleep patterns, your stress levels, your mindfulness practice to relieve any anxiety. The list goes on! At the crux of my wellness journey though is the work being done to be intentional with how I’m treating my whole self.

Q: What inspires you to be mindful?

I’m inspired to be mindful when I take a moment for myself and I journal. I’ve always turned to writing to clear my mind and help me reset my thought patterns. We all get so caught up with the to-do lists of our lives, it’s easy to forget about what we want our lives to look like and be cognizant of our purpose. Journaling allows me time to think about where my North Star is.

Q: What advice do you have for anyone wanting to lead a healthier life?

Think about what healthy means to you. You may see other people drinking smoothies all the time, that doesn’t mean that that’s the right decision for you. You may see others leading a life with a full schedule but perhaps what you need is to take your day at a different pace. Look inward and assess what your needs are, as opposed to following someone else’s lifestyle. With that being said, my approach is to start small. If you know you want a rehaul on your exercise patterns or you are feeling a lot of stress in your day - take it one day at a time. One step at a time.

Q: Let’s talk skin… we are dying to know what your approach to skincare is?

My approach to skincare is that it is self-care time. Growing up, I used to just barely wash my face with bar soap and that was it. I just wanted to hurry up and get it done. Now when I think about how I cleanse my face and apply all of my products, I take my time. It’s a time to be intentional with how I treat my body.

Q: What are your everyday skincare rituals that are non-negotiable?

I must cleanse! No matter how tired I am at night or how rushed I am in the morning, I always cleanse my skin. I don’t want to put moisturizer or makeup on my skin and lock in any impurities. Our skin should be a clean blank canvas before we start putting anything on it. Other than that, SPF in the morning is an absolute must! I would never wear it growing up and now I have the sunspots to prove it, so I want to prevent getting anymore!

Q: Can you share your favorite Odacité products (and why)?

I wish everyone who hasn’t tried it could feel how the Black Mint Cleanser feels like! The first time I put it on, I was obsessed with the minty, refreshing feeling on my face. It really feels like it is doing a deep cleanse on my skin. And then another favorite is the All-Embracing Serum. After cleansing, I need to make sure that I rehydrate my skin and applying serum is always a must! I feel like it gives my skin an instant glow too, which is always welcome!

60 Seconds With Rachel ⏰

My alarm is set for…

6am! I do snooze (a habit I’m trying to break out of) but at the latest I’m out of bed by 6:30am. I like starting my mornings early and taking my time before the day gets to be too busy!

I cannot start my day without…

Matcha. I am not a coffee drinker but matcha is a must. It’s a part of my morning ritual.

My fridge is always stocked with…

Almond milk! I use it in my matcha and smoothies every day!

My favorite workout is…

Boxing. I love the empowering feeling I get from punching that bag!

My latest wellness obsession is…

CBD. I use a tincture and put a few drops into my matcha, smoothie, or even just water.

The last book I read was…

How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger.

My favorite way to relax is…

Lately, it’s zoning out with reality tv!

To get my creative juices flowing I…

Have conversations with other creative people.

My definition of beauty is…

Owning your truth.

My current mantra…

You are exactly where you need to be.
