When the Spanish settled in Puerto Rico at the beginning of the 16th century they started planting cacao, which was in high demand in the European court. Then in the 17th century cacao was abandoned for sugar cane as sugar was more profitable.⠀
Today most of the world's cacao is GMO. But Juan went to find the original seeds of cacao that were growing wild since the 16th century over the island. He started a farm with these amazing heritage seeds.
